DUDE if you find one I'll pay good for it. I've been looking for a long time. I'll repost a thread I posted somewhere else to show you what I mean. I have a program searching the web looking for one for sale.

I did to but I didn't have the roll to buy the whole bike or I would have. Then put on a new shock and resold it. Oh well.

REPOST FROM PBP

I have been looking for this shock for awhile and have yet to find one. I was reading through back post and it just popped into my head. I wonder who can find one first. Here's a write-up from long ago:

"-Active Control eXperts Inc., (ACX) announces the introduction of a revolutionary electronic, microprocessor-controlled compression damping shock for mountain bikes. Dubbed the K2 "Smart Shock" and developed in conjunction with K2 BIKE and Noleen Shocks, this marks the first high-volume, commercial application of electronics to mountain bike suspensions. The Smart Shock uses ACX's Piezo Control(TM) technology and is available immediately on most high-end models from K2 BIKE.
The Smart Shock provides a radical performance improvement over conventional manually-adjusted shocks in which the rider pre-sets the comprehension damping level between "soft" and "hard." Because they must be pre-set, conventional mountain bike shocks must compromise performance in various riding conditions. When set "hard," traditional shocks perform poorly in trail chatter. When set "soft," traditional shocks waste energy and bottom-out on high speed impacts. The Smart Shock, using a speed and position sensor, miniaturized electronics, and ACX's QuickPack(R) piezoelectric actuator to control a hydraulic valve, provides a suspension that automatically and continuously adjusts the compression damping levels, providing optimized performance over the complete range of terrain conditions and riding speeds."

There's a lot more to the write-up but that should be enough for the racer's to realize what this shock means. I know I suck...I throw meat on the table and you can't eat it without a fork. Happy hunting .

REPOST 2

Yeah it was way ahead of it's time. A lot of people were still buying hardtails and those who weren't bought Giant or Trek with a few other's thrown in. K2 Marin and a few others were highend and people couldn't see spending that kind of money to play in the dirt. People think different now.

REPOST 3 FIRST MINIMOTORACER THEN ME

Thats outragous, in a good way. But the question is, will this shock really improve the performance of the bike, or just the comfort. Hell, i still use a hardtail, steel frame, and its a stretch for me to use air assist on my forks. Whats mountain biking if you don't get knocked around and the occassional ball buster. Very cool find though, i'd like to see it on a motard or midbike, that'd be really interesting.

can't answer that one until somebody puts it to the test. I raced a local mountain bike race through an area with cypress knee's and flat sweeping turns. I was using a hardtail. through the flat turns I was easily faster than the full suspension guys, but when the ground turned even a little bumpy or uneven they left me for dead. My rear was off the ground more than it was down and digging for traction. I was looking at their backs pedaling my a$$ off and watching them walk away. They weren't faster because when I later rode with the same guys on road bikes I smoked them by a very long way. I became a believer during that race. That was my one and only mountain race I couldn't see spending the money on another mountain bike when I was really getting into the road thing.

And for those wondering what the hype is all about read this and weep.
