I have a (well really can't remember) 26mm or 28mm Mikuni carb I bought from Bri6672 awhile back and I have it installed in my 114 motor. Now when I start it pops sometimes, but it idles good. It boggs from 1/2 throttle to WOT unless I gradually ease in the throttle. Now someone told me the the popping is due to inproper rocker adjustment, is that true. This is the first time I have I have to deal with the internals of the motor. Does anyone know the rocker clearence numbers. All input will be appreciated. I'm just trying to get her running to hit the road. I will post a vid tommorrow for better reference. Neighbors are asleep right now bangheadLOL
This is what the carb looks like. It only has the one screw for adjustment on both sides and one underneath the carb (it's not the one that empties the carb bowl.
P.S Thank Nutty P for the wrap it was the perfect length and you were right about the it getting smokey.

with a 114 kit, hc piston I dont think that taper bore is gonna be enough carb....Try dropping the needle clip all the way down, see if that helps at all, if it does then you are running lean....also try adjusting the bottom mixture screw, I know it's a pain on these carbs, thats one thing I dont like about the taper bore carbs.....

Rocker adjustment or the timing being off will cause a popping... Make sure that the cam is in time with the crank first...
If that checks ok then readjust the rockers...... I set my rockers at .003 on the intake and .004 on the exhaust while the engine is cold.....

For the timing, I think I did it right. the crank was at the highest point and the cam had both lobes down when installed with the markings lined up. The rockers I know have to be adjusted cause they were just eye-balled. Did I do the timing right?
So the mixture screw is the one at the bottom (which way do I turn it?) So the screw on the side ,is that the idle screw?

You have to line up the mark on the flywheel with the notch on the engine case and then line up the mark on the cam gear and the head
Eyeballing the valves can be wayyy too tight or wayy too loose.... that stuff can't be guessed at....
side screw is idle
air mixture (bottom) usually needs to be opened (out)

I need help again fellas I was replacing my clutch side cover and one of the screws toward the bottom the thread in the case stripped out now I was thinking of using a helicoil cause it leaks oil. Has anyone encountered this or come up with a quick fix.

maybe you can screw in a bit bigger bolt thats longer and then when you know its good, red loctite it in, then cut the head off the bolt with a dremil and slide the cover over the new 'stud' and use a nut to secure that spot
ghetto but it may/should work if you have the right bolt
ive never actually used helicoil, i hear they are good
