just wanted to let you guys know. i ordered a clutch cable and a 28 tooth rear sproket for my x15 from sdcycles. i wold highly recomend them to anyone who is looking for replacement or performance parts for their bikes. they were fast and more then helpful. i couldnt get the cable on for nothing, i called their service line, waited 13 minutes for someone. he answered and guided me through what i was doing wrong.

I have a 28 rear and Ive used it for close to 3 monthes. It actually didn't gain any speed it just made the gears longer. The speed was tested by gps too.

???? well if it made them longer then it should have gave you more top speed???

well the engine is only putting out so much power so it's highly possible that the bike is just maxed out, he probably got to 58 quicker with the stock gear.... You'd think he would gain some mph but not neccesarily.... I've talked to guys that dropped the gear ratio in thier drag car from like a 456 to a 411 and lowered thier ET's, (went quicker). It is all based on what the engine is capable of pulling..... Now if he added some goodies and brought the H.P and torque up so it could pull more on top end his mph would go up quite a bit...

o, i think ill just get a 17 tooth sprocket, how much more mph will i get???

r32rider
07-24-2008, 01:41 PM
depends on the ratio you have now. see i have a 17 front and putting on my 28 tooth rerar this weekend. i was told by several members that i should see 60 or a little above. i am at 53 rigth now with carb, filter, and larger fuel lines and ngk plug. i am a littel guy too. i am only 5'6" at 130 lbs. this bike should move with the new sproket.

ive got the stock 38??? i think im not sure. but with the 17 how much do you think i will gain, i have to fix my speedo so i can see how fast i go.

i think you have a 17 right now. that what came stock on my x15. came with 17front and 38 rear. i had to get a better gearing for cruising cause it would top out so easy just cruising and my first gear was pretty nonexistant. way too short, just started off in second everytime. also the reason i went wiht the 28 rear is cause i cant find any toher size except a 33 and that wasnt enough i dont think. and if you are going to order one, get it from sd cause they overnighted mine for free.

i wouldnt put that 28 rear if you had a 17 in the front already

r32rider
07-24-2008, 04:32 PM
why not. the bike is geared so damn low right now i have hardly any first gear. and i couldnt find anything other then a 28. anyways, its only used for cruising long straight roads. i need high gearing. i think once i get it perfectly tuned and that exhaust on i will be fine.

cuase 28 rear is too high for it
the 110 i had semi stock couldnt pul the 17 front 32

bcuz you wont be able to ring out 4th gear so it will be useless and all of ur gears will be slow at gaining rpm...

r32, i think you did good
please let us know if you are happy with how your bike is to you
guys remember that everybody here doesnt like the same things
he wants to go fast, and sprockets are in that list of needed parts
he knows he wont be doing 70 but hey if you have the wind at your back and you tuck....who knows

according to my speedometer (I know they are sh*t) my bike has always gone 40mph even after dropping from a 17/38 stock to a 17/33, my gears only got longer like said above. what ratio would let my motor be close to being at its peak?? Im finally convinced on a motor swap for a 140 or 150 come tax season ill swap it out.

i have a 15 tooth front and 38 tooth rear. cuz most roads here are like 45- 50 mph zones, i want to cruz at that speed but still have a lil more mph, i only want to get a front sprocket cuz its easier to put on.

yerah if you are trying to cruise at 45-50 then you are in need of a sproket change. you dont need to be wide oopen all the time. and remember guys, i am only 5'5" and 130 lbs. i am like a child on this thing, lol.

and thanks blitz, it was you that convinced me to get it. and i am not trying to get 70 i just want to be able to cruise at 50-55 with out running wide ass open. i will let you guys know what happens this weekend. i will be putting it on saturday at my dads.

yeah its exatly what im tring to say, but will a 17 38 gearing work for that??

no 17/38 will have you at 10k rpm at 55 maybe

ninja x1
07-24-2008, 05:55 PM
hum?? would have to get a rear sprocket?? ill fix my speedo and see how fast i go at wot with th 15:38 i have right now, and i see if its worth geting the 17 tooth.

Blitz$M.Inc.$
07-24-2008, 05:58 PM
you will go a little bit faster, not much
i like to have the 28 rear, then swap the front out depending on my needs, the counter is easier to change often too

ninja x1
07-24-2008, 06:00 PM
like how much????

r32rider
07-24-2008, 06:10 PM
yeah thats waht i am planning on. if the 17/28 is too much i will swap out the front for a 15 or 16, but always keep the 28 on the back. i think if blitz says i am ok it will be cool. and ninja dont worry about checking your speed on your speedo, its shit. get a gps or a radar gun, thats the only accurate way.

i have shwin speedo that i bought at wally mart for like 10 bucks???

i just need to hook up the magnet.

r32rider
07-24-2008, 06:15 PM
i guess that will work. i just dont think its as accurate as a gps. i mean those schwinn speedos are the same as wahts on our bikes stock.
