http://www.xmrpros.com/store/store.php?pg1-cid45.html

this will be my first mod on my x18, so i have a couple questions

which motor do you like best? why?
I like 1-N-2-3-4 better than N-1-2-3-4

i know that the GPX is N-1-2-3-4
but does anyone know if the Lifan is 1-N-2-3-4?

also, will the stock exhaust bolt on to these motors?

feel free to add any comments you have about each motor

Thanks

both motors are vary nice and can be built go go over 14 hp
main difference i think as to that is cc size gpx 125= 146cc engine
lifan 125= 141

I like the 1dn 3 up myself but thats just MO, if you plan on getting a 125 and doing a BBK and all the other mods I would suggest just starting out with a OGM, KRP 150cc with the KLX top half, 28mm intake and 23mm exhaust vlaves, with this engine you will start out bigger than you can get the 125cc with a BBK, then you can crank that 150 up to and over 200cc if you want..... I wouldn't waste the money on a 125 as cheap as the 150's are now... I got mine for $425 shipped, it came with a 26mm carb (soso carb), an inner rotor kit, dress up kit, oil cooler with braided hoses, cdi, shifter and kicker arm.....

a 125 will run around $250-$350 shipped for a good 125 (lifan, gpx, but only the lifan has the BVH), add another $180 for a bbk (141-146cc depending on engine), another $150 for carb/intake, your already over the price of a 150 now.... This is just my 2 cents....

this is the one I bought, good seller too http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LIFAN-YX-150CC-MOTOR-ENGINE-CRF50-XR50-125CC-140cc-KLX_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262 QQcategoryZ35595QQihZ012QQitemZ220261410736

Alex has a 140cc for $349 shipped http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LIFAN-YX-140CC-MOTOR-ENGINE-CRF50-XR50-GPX-125CC-138CC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el12 62QQcategoryZ35595QQihZ012QQitemZ220263219939

yeah you can crank the gpx up but it will cost a heck of a lot more than building off of a 150cc base...With the GPX you have to get the BBK and then a BVH just to get close to a 150 is stock.... Until these 150 and 160cc engines came out doing up a 125 was the chitz but now thats old school....

yes, but then again, with the 150 hes going to need a new exhaust since the head is different. i personally would get the 150 and go...stock to stock, the 150 is alot better. even tho your going to need an exhaust.

the stock exhaust will bolt up with minor tweaking but the stock pipe is way to small I.D to do any good on the 150, heck they are too small for the 110....

about the shift pattern, even tho full size bikes are 1down5up i like the gpx style of 4down
its easier to remember gear and even if there isnt a false neutral its still a pain in the azz
plus its easier to race
if your gonna get a 125 base then get the gpx and build that
if your gonna get a 150 base then get the 160cc gpx and a new exhaust, and chill cause you will prolly be broke bluelaugh

thanks guys for your replys

125ccCrazy, it seems that you arent so crazy about the 125 after all
i went ahead and bought the YX150 off ebay, they only had two left!!!
I gotta save my money now to get that exhaust

im still working on getting my x18 street legal in va
it looks like high beams might not be needed
i called the PD, they said as long as it passes inspection, it good to go
i might even take my motorcycle skills test on my x18 bluelaugh

the only difference I found on my stock X12 pipe to the klx head was that the bolt holes in the flange needed to be drilled out to 8mm..... You may have to tweak a bend a little but other than that it fit pretty good.... There is no huge difference in the pipes...

sounds easy
what part does it need to be cleared from? the valve head or caseings?

the flange on the headpipe that bolts to the head, the two holes in that flange need drilled out.... The stock holes are 6mm and the studs on the klx head are 8mm....
