Hello All, Just curious I got my X-18 with unworking rear brakes. Basically the calipers where closed. I tried prying them gently but still no luck. I called the company and they said they will ship it some time in the next few months... I cant even ride the thing since I have disbaled the rear brakes. I am not sure how to refill the brake line to ensure no air to test that idea. Please help.

When you say stuck.Like they are stuck closed to the rear disc.So the back wheel doesn't turn..............Thats crazy!..I took my brake brakes off there useless unless your into stunting. You can slow the bike down by using engine braking+front brakes.

Hey thanks for the replay, I go done hill alot and don't want to burn out my transmission or front brake. Good idea though! I would even go with an aftermarket one, or if someone knows how, if they could guild me through rebuilding this one, if possible.

Ok guys, first let me thank all of you for all the input! I can't wait to see the pictorial redryderaus! I may have hit a bit of partial luck... It appears I had a whole bunch of air in my lines... 55isabiglie helped a great deal with some links to some ideas of what to tryrock2, but I was not willing to blow 50 bux on a special pump for hopefully a 1 time gig. So, in looking around my garage I found my old home defense insect spray (the kind that you pull the liquid through the flexible tube and spray. Turns out it works great for pulling brake fluid through the nipple at the end of the line!!! thumbsup2 I pulled as much air out as I could and it is working... mostly... Still I have one shoe dragging a bit on the brake, but now one can move clearly. If only there was a way to pull the other, lubricant maybe of some sort. I know, no lube near brakes, but there has to be a way.wave_finger

Great idea, X18PocketRocket!

You can bleed brakes without a pump. I'll cover that in the How-To, along with a lot of other info on maintenance and repair.

Cheers,

I have taken the rear brake calipers apart and lubed the pistons a bit. It helps a little. There are aftermarket brake that might require some modding, I'll be get some Brembo cailpers during the winter my bike is parked and in part right now waiting for some mods.smokin_pimp
