Blitz,

It would depend on the track organisers. Some insist on full leathers, others are less strict. Best to contact the organisers beforehand to find out what they specifically require.

To your list, I'd add knee/shin guards, elbow/forearm guards and a back protector. Your leather jacket would only be any good if it is designed for motorcycle use. Fashion type jackets generally aren't strong enough, especially the stitching.

Of course, I only recommend full leathers, back protector, helmet, boots and gloves. I know, I'm a bit of a stuck record when it comes to safety. rolleye0010

If someone could find a cheap source of full leathers it would go a long way toward getting people to wear them. I think the major reason people don't is the cost. soap_box

I agree 100%. The cost is big. i was thinking about piecing it all together and that adds up too. good thing midbikes are affordable cuz it seems you need to spendmthe same ammount or more on racing gear.rolleye0010

I know. I'm working on it, but having seen the machines needed to make them and the cost of leather I can't see them getting much cheaper. Ebay may be the best bet. I've seen near new leathers on there for very affordable prices. Anyway, what price do you put on your health?

Sooner or later we'll see cheap race leathers out of China. Then the question will be is the quality there?
