my X-19 is a day old and i was riding earlier when my bike cut out. i tried to electric start and it didnt work so i manual started and it started but when i pulled my clutch in my headlights dimmed along with the instrument panel.... i checked my fuse and it was blown. ran back to the house to replace the fuse and viola, blown again as soon as i started the bbike. now i dont know what the prob could be. took the gas tank cover and seat off to get at the wires so i could see if any thing was disconnected. the only wire that wasnt was the "charging connect". anybody have an idea as to what d hell the prob is? ive been reading forums and also wanted to know what the cdi box is and does.

You probably have a bad ground somewhere in the system. Now that I;ve told you that I can say I have no idea where it might be. Using a test light is your best bet in finding it. It ain't easy and it's a royal pain. The CDI is the box that tells you coil when to fire that's a very basic answer.

The insulation around the wires is total crap as the wires are also so very thin.
Follow the wires and make sure nothing is burning out on your regulator as the regulator also has a tendancy to want to burn up.
You have wires touching somewhere.......... you may have to replace the wires and solder in some better grade wires.
Is your head spinning yet?

Looks something like this ( hopefully not toasted) and is located along the frame under the seat

thanks alot shooter, i just tried another fuse and when i pull the clutch in it blows.....why the clutch??? i know the battery is grounded to the outside housing of it but wtf?
ok just pulled the harness out and it looks fine also the the inside of the voltage reg looks fine...
will i do harm to the bike running it without a fuse?

sounds like it is part of the brake light/starting ciruit. when you pull the clutch you trigger a switch that turns on the brake light and also grounds/charges part of the starting relay. so you can click the electric start. quick check is if your bike alreay is wired like mine. the rear brake and the front brake has the switchs to turn on the brake lights, check to see if yours does. if so if the fues pops then its some where further back in the system. if it is just when the clutch is pulled then it pops then someing at the clutch switch follow thouse wires. id start with the brake light/starting ciruit before going elses where... hope this helps..
The X-19 has a clutch brake setup/.When the clutch is pulled the rear brake light activates........Check your rear brake bulb socket to make sure the wires are good in the holder.......sometimes the spring grounds the bulb base electrode........take out the rear brake bulb and put a new fuse in and see if it blows bulbs anymore;-put bulb back and recheck;-if it blows thats the problem and if it doesnt blow its the problem also.....you may have to reshape the bulb tension spring..
If that dont fix the problem
Take off tank cover and follow the clutch perch wire to the harness to a plug called left brake handle;-it should be two wires going into 4.you may have to clip some tywraps to access it...see if a wire disconnected from the connnector and is now resting on the opposite terminal.......

im gonna say you got a wire somewhere touching another wire thats not supposed to be touching....check all wires starting with the clutch wires, trace them back and you should see a melted wire casing or exposed wire....

there was some incidents where kids x19s actually burnt to the ground because of wiring problems
so definatly put a separate on/off switch directly to the battery so when you leave, the battery isnt hooked up

just off the subject here.. say i wanted to replace my fuse..i pulled it out and it says 1-1UA (obviously amps) 25UV(and voltage) i went everywhere loking for these little fuses and came across similar ones at radio shack. originally i bought 2.5a250v fuses but then i decided to see if there were smaller ones so i went to a different radio shack and the guy tells me if i put a fuse in with too much amps it will start a fire so i bought 1.5a 250v. are these good enough or will work without starting my bike up in flames?
you need the 10 amp ones ..............2.5 amps is too light.the stock battery charger for the battery puts out 7 amps and its wired direct to the harness..............
The 250 volts rating is cool;-its just the physical size and the amperage.
You need size 7 AG-10 amp/250 volt.........
The only way your bike will go up in flames is if you overcharge battery with the crappy chinese charger those bikes came with.......They overcharge batteries and kill them......Battery Tender brands are way better..........The other way is if the valve fails in the sealed lead acid gel cell battery and explodes or starts a fire from hydrogen gas pressure build-up..............The plastic gastank covers are the perfect fume trapping hood because if its design......and where the battery sits;- after that all it takes is a gas build-up and a static electricity dis-charge and ;-you know the rest.........Peace

Thanks man, i went out an bought 1.5/250's and they blew right away. the 2.5/250's worked just fine but im pretty sure my battery would die if i continued to use them because of the stress placed on the battery. so i figured as u said it was the 10/250's but i couldnt find them at radio shack so as of right now im rocking out with a 5/250 because thats as big as they had. i will probbly have to order online because i cant find anyon with bigger than that, tried auto zone and advanced auto parts and they didnt even have the right size. so if you do know of a website or company that has good quality ones let me know. the only reason i went so small is because i couldnt decipher the original writing on the chinese fuse that came with the bike.
p.s. i was going to go with the battery tender, but, they didnt have the quick connect so i went to advanced auto parts "kinda like auto zone" and grabbed a 33 dollar one called a Battery Maintainer by Shumacher. it has quick connects and is for 6-12 volts so i figure it was a deal, just wondering if any of you gus have this brand and if it is any good or a damn fire hazard!
i have that maintainer i havent used it in a while though but it works only problem is the harness for the quick disconnect is like 5 inches long so i had to make it longer that was easy though and i only paid 20 at walmart

Battery Tender Jr[24.95] and Waterproof Tender [34.95] are the cheapest units and both have the direct wire to battery quick disconnect and alligator clamps to charge other barreries also....................I have 5 units and both types;-look at the pictures and you can see the plug I added;-the wire comes with a built-in 10 amp fuse also........................
the fuse can be ordered through buss fuses or littlefuse websites.........Peace
