Okay guys, i made a custom harness for my bike and it works great!
But, i still had a problem with the bike not starting properly, I was messing around with it and had the top of the carb unscrewed (the thing that holds the slide adn spring down into the carb) and kicked it. It started right up and so i shifted into 1st and it took of and was revving super super high with out even giving it any gas. I quickly yanked the spark plug wire off. It didnt think that was a good thing so i came to post about it here.
But some people were thinking my bike was not getting enough gas? i lowered the c-clip and everything, but i think it was not getting enough air, cus when the carb cap was off it sounded like it was WFO. Any ideas on what to do?

That would be an uncontrolled air leak. Meaning it is running lean.

i dont know whats, wrong, i put the bike exactly like it was when it was previously running, and now it will only idle when you are giving it full gas. The jets are clean, ive checked over and over again.

On the top of the carb, the cap you're talking about, there should be a o-ring. Is it there and intact. That could be leaking air. Dunno just throwing more dirt in the air.rolleye0010

hm.. i'm not sure on that, i will have to check that tomorrow. I had my gf's dad (the racer bows_smilie) over and we tinkered with it for a while, Totally dis-asembled the carb and did a few other things, but anyway we got it where it will idle if you hold down on the gas. what he told me was to adjust the carb starting with the air/fuel, then the idle. He said if that didnt work, i would probbably have to do a bigger jet (so could someone point me to a site to buy a jet kit for under $20 if possible) He also said there may be a possiblity that one of the valves is not closing all the way (he said to check the exaust valve first) and would need adjusted.
an awsome tip he gave me for checking for air leaks between the carb and motor is to spray starter fluid on the seals, and if there was an air leak it would suck in the starter fluid and the motor would rev up a little.

And this is with the cap tightened back down, correct? Or is the cap still loose?

how would i go about taking the head off so i can see the valves?
Would i have to to pull the motor out and drain the oil?

no its those 2 caps on the head with the big bolt on it
the tappets are under those, you need a feeler gauge and a 9mm and some needle nose pliers to turn the rod

Have you been running a filter on the carb? If not you could have sucked something into the motor and nicked the valve seat or the valve face. :dunno:

its had a filter on it since ive had it, i can get it started, but it sounds very unusual so i just go ahead and cut if off. I have another small problem, the wire connected to the coil keeps sparking, should i just wrap that up with tape?
i still dont understand how it could go from running perfect to being on its death bed. Tomorrow i am going to weld the stock pipe back together, i like my drag one, i just think its a little too loud. i dont think this would be a problem starting the bike, but the last time it ran well the stock pipe was on it.
