get a better battery so go to pepboys with your original battery and get one of same size... they dont come with chargers so here's one (you can also get the same at pepboys but here's what it looks like)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DELTRAN-BATTERY-TENDER-JR-JR-CAR-MOTORCYCLE-CHARGER-A_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7 c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1 Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem12 0381549666QQitemZ120381549666QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPa rtsQ5fAccessories
hook up the clamps to the battery and leave them there for easy charging because inorder to access the battery you must remove seat and tail fairing which is a MAJOR pain in the ass to be doing all the time....
the shifting is the same concept as a car.... your shift pattern is like this, 1-D N 2-U 3-U 4-U. Neutral is between 1st-2nd.... to go to neutral just give it a slight tap.... shift when you feel you've maxed out power in gear by pulling clutch....

You can never have too many chargers hahaha Wish I had one for every bike and car thumbsup2 One thing I think we might want to start telling Newbie's is to trash the OEM chargers. I have a stock battery which I never used with the stock charger and it's still running strong. I think 2 things are going on 1. The battery is a cheapo POS 2. The charger is even worse. The 2nd parts helps kill the first. A stronger charger might keep your battery replacement to a minimum and the charger is way cheaper than the battery.

so i had plan to ride my x-18 today but spend couple of hour trying to get it start up and it never did. I couldnt figure out where the button to electric start is at all i found was the yellow horn button and the red button on the right handle bar which i believe is the kill switch for the engine or if it was indeed the button to start it up i press it nothing happen. I try the kick start and still wasnt able to get it fire up. I must have kick start it like 50times without any result. I check the fuse and it was there but i end up breaking the fuse trying to pull it out so where can i get a replacement fuse for it? I set the clutch in neutral displaying 0 pull the choke up and turn to the right then kickstart nothing happen. I gave up and start loading bike on my truck and i notice at the bottom of the bike theres a black tubeing thats not connected to anything and gas was spilling out and theres another black tube around the center thats not connect to anything either. I am guessing the reason why the engine didnt start was those black tube are gas line and its been cutoff so theres no gas to the engine to start up.Here are some pictures of the black tubes so if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciated.

bro leave those hoses alone...thats how they go, you may have overflowed the carb with all your attempts. but im not gonna get into that right now....
#1- you dont hold in the clutch when u kick start cause i think u dont get compression... you actually may have fu**ed up your bike doing it that many times
#2- the red button is the electric start but when u get the bike ur supposed to charge the battery first
#3- did you check to see if you were getting a spark while trying
#4 did u change the shipping oil to non-synthetic 4 stroke oil
#5- you should have read this completely......http://www.super-pocket-bike-scooter.com/X18_SUPER_POCKET_BIKE_FAQS.html

first of all, putting your bike in an upright position is what made the gas come out
those hoses are supposed to be there, they are drains and vents, dont mess with them
you have to pull the left brake to estart it, you prolly flooded it standing it up like that

i only hold clutch in to shift to neutral but when kickstart i dont hold clutch in its only when you do electric start that you need to hold clutch. my fuse is broken where can i get a replacement one? I am gonna go buy a charger and charge up the battery and see if it works kickstart doesnt seem to work for me...

I Up-Graded my battery to a 'Xtreme' brand sealed battery.
Its a AGM sealed battery 12v 9Ah NINE Amp hour!
Made by Xtreme. Got it at 'Battery's Plus'
Battery number XTA9B-4
I had to lengthen the negative wire by 6"
Not going to use the metal battery hold own strap.
Battery is longer.
But the same width. Its a bit taller too. But it fits.
The battery fits SNUG in the battery tray.
So I ran a Zip-Tie around the battery and frame as a Safety strap.

They are genuine, 'Battery Tender Jr.' clips.
Battery Tender Jr.s come with one set Alligator clips and one wire sub-harnes, that goes bolted to the battery terminales.
When your done riding, just plug the tender into the bike!

:jacked: for discussion about the stock brake fluid and past banned familiars... Hey rock! The battery doesnt have to be charged to start it. Infact i think that fuse only links the battery to the gauge and ignition assembly.
The battery and fuse only determins if your lights, gauges and push button start works if im not mistaken. It should still kick start and run ok w/o those. Personally i've removed all that junk, mines at least 25lbs or more lighter then stock, never break stuff, and never have to worry about fuses or dead batteries....since you already removed your fairings, maybe your already headed that direction. PM if you wanna remove your ignition ill tell ya what wires to cross to make that work.
ANYWAYS - Running issues. Is your ignition key on? Then it might be flooding, On a warm day try starting it without the choke. Open the throttle during kick starting. You can remove your spark plug and if its black and wet after trying to start it, it maybe flooded,(leave plug out, throttle closed, kick it over about 20-30 times to clear the cylinder.)
If its clean and dry but wont start you probably arent getting ANY fuel or spark. Pull the spark plug out, plug it into the wire, and touch the BODY of the plug(threaded part) to the engine case and have a friend kick it over for ya, while you watch the plug for a little bit of spark(doesnt have to be big spark but DON'T hold the plug body with your bare hands). If you have spark, take off your air filter and have a friend spray a few pusles of carb. cleaner into the carb while you try to kick start it.
-Wet black plug - flooded or no spark(check plug), dont use choke to start it, keep throttle closed during kick starting. Clean plug of black carbon, dry plug out or replace, clear cylinder and try again.
-Spark ok, fires up on carb cleaner/starter fluid - If it wont stay running then the issues with your carb, or try opening the throttle while kick starting it.
-no spark - trace circuit back from the plug wire to the coil, and past that.
if its ok, then its possible your coil is bad, or your ignition s/w is bad.
FYI you only need the hose from the fuel tank to the carb to be connected. The other hoses are breathers/vents. The red button on your handle is the electric start, the key'ed ignition switch is your kill switch.

Just be careful with the carb cleaner. Too much will dry out your rings and score the cylinder.

forget the electric start, just worry about getting the bike starting using the kickstart, more than likely, you have a wiereing problem, either something is not pluged in.
Check to see if you getting spark, if you are, then its more than likely a carb issue.

On the 'bottom' of the carb. On the 'float bowl' theres a slotted screw, next to a hose. Thats the carb drain screw.
X-18's dont come with manuals.

One screw changes the mixture and the other is idle. I dont have a stock carb here, but one screw actually screws into the inside of the carb, if you open the throttle all the way and look inside w/ the filter off, u can see it sticking out inside the barrel, u can turn the screw and see it move a little, or the slide open a bit if the throttles closed. It moves the slide up and down and lets a more or less air pass by the slide and into the motor thus adjusting the idle.(controlled vacuum leak.)
the other screw, wherever it is on the carb, effects the mixture in general...
Adj. the idle screw to make it run, AFTER its running, play w/ the mixture screw and ride it to tune it. messing w/ both at the same time is a pain..

i found like 3 needle one on the left side of the engine and other on the right side of the carb. I cant turn the needle on the left side it wont turn and the 2 needle on the carb i dont know which is the mixture and which is the idle. One has a spring the other dont. Can someone be more specific and tell me which needle is what and whats the default setting for the needles like how many turns? Sorry for being a pain in the rear but i just want to ride this bike.
