When I first got into to Mid's I went to that other site and stepped right into a huge blow-up about electric turbo-chargers rolleye0010 . It hasn't reared it's ugly head here but somebody sooner or later is going to bring it up. So I'm putting the nasty beastie out of our collective lives hopeful for a while. It never really goes away someone always falls for the pretty words. Check this site real quick and put it to rest wave_finger

I've said my piece before on these POS's. They are sold in the thousands because many people are gullible enough to buy them.

I can put together a ducted fan/brushless motor setup from an RC jet that would move enough air fast enough to have an effect. The cost would be $600+ for the fan unit, motor, battery and speed controller. Then you need to custom make an MPU to match it's speed to engine rpm.

Another issue is with such a unit is blade stall when the inlet valve is closed. For that time frame the airflow is completely blocked and the fan (even the high-end CF fans I can get) would likely explode in a very short time. There is a reason why real turbo chargers use a centrifugal compressor.

Cheers,

BTW: The setup on that website would never have worked. A cheap plastic fan unit powered by a 100W brushed motor might move about 10cfm, not the 230cfm claimed by the manufacturer.
