So, I'm just about ready to paint my x18 fairings. Only problem is a huge infamous crack on the bottom of the fairing. If blitz can get in here and let me know how he mounted his aluminum bottom, I'm thinking thats the best way to go. Blitz you think you can help me out with the aluminum body bottom? I've already seen your tutorial but it doesn't say much.

unless you happen to have a decent sized shop, with tools and skills, the alluminum panels might be a tad out of reach, besides, you got a $100 solution for a $1 problem, you can run to an auto store, get some plastic expoxy glue, and fix the problem within 5mins, then once its dry sand your plastics down and piant.

Could you maybe expand on the idea. Some links or some insight would be greatly appreciated.

THe glue that shooter has been using on his custom build is "Plastic Fusion" you can find it at some hardware stores. here is a link http://superglue.supergluecorp.com/15277.html

I use Plastic Welder made by Devcon and can be bought at Autozone, Walmarts ect... It's a two part glue in a dual syringe that you mix equal parts together... Go to a local hobby store and look for sheets of styrene (abs) plastic or if you have an old body panel cut a piece from that, clean the area real well from any oil, dirt ect... Now sand the area with some coarse sandpaper (40-80 grit), do the same for the patch, mix the glue and smear a thick coat on both pieces, apply the patch and hold it until the glue starts to set up.... The Plastic Welder will actually melt the two pieces together and is nearly impossible to break apart... I use this to fix panels, do custom mods, ect.... I swear by the stuff and would recommend it to anyone that needs to repair the body on thier pocket or mid bike, well actually most any plastic part..
Walmarts has it the cheapest that I've found, it was like $2.88 a pack, some of the packs had a free tube of super glue with it..
Do this outside as the plastic welder has a really nasty smell....
