ok im sure we can all agree that a pit bike frame is just about stronger than any MID frame (correct me if im wrong) if so would it be a good idea so mount a let say an x18 body around a pit bike frame. I mean from what i seen in some pictures x18 wheels with probably alittle modding would fit between pit bike forks and swing arms right. let me know on what you guys think

This would be cool but only if you use a perimeter frame then it would look more like a sport bike frame. There was a company at one time sold sport bike body work for the xr 50

They did* make fairings for a CRF50... and i just so happen to have access to the master mold!

If this chassis wasn't so pricey.I'd definitly be racing on one.thumbsup2

So Shawn what are the chances of you making some of these bodies? I have a 4 year old little girl that has the itch for street bikes. What a way to start you can buy and xr 50 all day for $600-$800 around here.

Swheels,
The Frame Jagspeed his is a China frame (nothing wrong with that) and is about $200-$400. The frame that is on the Monkey R or ZB50 is a Over Racing $2000+ frame. Beside the obvious price difference there is a huge quality difference. One is a cast Aluminum perimeter frame and the Over is a steal (chromed) trellis style frame.
If im not mistake he is running a Mini Moto Madness NSR/YSR body kit with a RS125 tank cover. Of course it trimmed to fit. Shouldn't be to difficult to do.
Ready2fight,
There would be a good chance for me to produce a few sets. Really just takes SOLID interest. I dont want to waste my time and make 5 sets and never sell one.
5*sky,
There are some pretty huge difference between the CFR50 with body work and a NSF100. The suspension being for road and FAR superior on the NSF100. The NSF100 have a Vertical (up and down) 100cc motor as the CRF50 has a Horizontal (side to side) 50cc motor. No big deal to up grade both. The NSF has front and rear disc and the CRF50 had drum front and rear. The NSF has aluminum wheels as the CRF50 has spokes. Now, the NSF100 has the best stock set up you can make a CFR50 competitive but it taks a good amount of money to be AS fast as the NF100.
There is more differences the similarities be sides them both being hondas and mini with 4 stroke engines.

Shawn the key to selling those bodies is like everything else with Mid Bikes it's all about pricepoint. The tail section is killer I'd need more photo's on the rest to say one way or the orther :dunno: I can see they sold for $400. People in the Mid Bike game will pay that for a motor but not for body work. They'll go naked first :JP:

That trellis frame dosn't look steel to me looks like aluminum tube polished you can tell by the welds. Its all tigged and steel tig welds wouldn't be that big.

~Shawn @ BMSActually Jags prototype bike is the steel perimeter frame and the trellis is the aluminum frame. The trellis frame is the one i'd like to get my hands on.thumbsup2 There is an xbike called the ducati monster that has a nice aluminum frame. That thing is super light too.Te thing tha keeps me away from it,is the fact that it's China made.I can almost guarantee that the quality of aluminum used is pure crap.LOL Was very tempted to get this bike in the pic.But i know i can't weld aluminum. So i stuck with the steel or metal.(don't know what these xbikes are made of).LOL

NuttyP,
I probably just market them towards CRF50 (or CRF50 style) bikes. Seems they there are some good options for the mid bikes. For me to even make it worth my time id have to sell them for $400-$600. I know many people could say they could do it for less. But i have a business to run and if i give everything away well... we know what happens. We have HIGH quality control at BMS. We just don't dabble in cheap (as in crappy) parts, id rather just not make them. But i see what your saying its all about price point for ANYone.
Swheels,
Im about 99.99$ sure Jagspeeds is an aluminum perimeter frame. You can find them on on ebay all day. I have yet to see a BBR style steel frame.

The ZB50/monkey R frame is an Aluminum. I guess i looked to quick. But it is for sure a high dollar company from Japan. The Over racing (steel) frame looks VERY similar. Below is a pic if the whole bike. I probably would stay from the china trellis frame.. I think there is a mid bike that looks like the Hyper Motard with a single sided swing arm.

$400 for that body wouldn't be that bad. Hell the front fairing on a ysr is that much. I guess it comes down to how much you want to spend on your toys.

Also Shawn I understand quality but for a crf 50 you have to remember its race body work. I have put alot of airtech bodies on big bikes they don't look that great and if you want the paint to be slick it takes alot of work. Most big bike body work sucks never fits that great have to drill most if not all the wholes. So I'm guessing someone who buys a crf body would be trying to get into midbikes cheap.

bluelaugh Dude I feel yeah on that. Make them cheap and people will still complain that the quality isn't up to par with a part that cost twice as much so it's easier to just stay higher end. And worth the time and trouble.
The problem I see is getting anyone to buy them to be honest. The Motars guys are into sit up and beg racing and the Mid Bike guys are just beggars bluelaugh
Some of got into this for the thrill of the ride and found out about the thrill of the build afterwards (Ah that would be me). And I find it hard to spend more money on the bodywork than I have on my loud as a mo-fo crf/klx motor. But that's just me.

Yes Swheels your right it is a steal perimeter frame, I was going to use aluminum but I used steal to keep the cost down.

~Shawn @ BMSNope it's steel infact i almost bought one for a 140 bucs on ebay.I'm pretty good friends with XMR and we talk shop often.I spoke to them about the bike before it was completed. This was i bike they were gonna build to sell.
At one time on ebay they had the aluminum perimeter frames for 300. with the front forks swingarm and rear shock. But i believe that was like 2yrs ago.But there was a plenty.Nutty P remembers that i pointed it out to him.

I built the Jspeed 150 as a Mid-racer that we could build fairly easy and sell as a ready to race mid-bike. The frame is a steal perimeter pit bike frame it is OK quality but no match for a trick custom aluminum one.
As far as X bike frames the X15 is a good sturdy platform probably as strong as the steal pit bike frame. We have used X12 X15 and X18 bikes as racers have made them all work good with the right mods.
The body kit is from minimoto madness, cut down to fit. You can get all the bodywork for about $500. I used this body kit instead of X15 or 18 stuff because it is all fiberglass so it can be repaired easily, important if you race and have a crash.

The weight is not to bad because the frame is simple design. Here is a pic without the body. You can see there is not much to it.

Not that he would think otherwise (That I was posing on his info) but Swheels was the one who has the lowdown on this one. How I got in there I don't know bluelaugh If I built one it would be steel so I could cut and reweld the steering neck and other parts.
