Alright so with my first x15, I wont it to be realiable and steet legal for when I turn 16 next year... now what engine would be good to keep up with traffic? that will fit in the x15s frame and have stator, to charge the lights and battery? but that will come later, so what should I do first, that you must, all the crap? thanks youbows_smilie

a gpx140 motor should do you good.
Change out the stock tires and the rear shock as they are crap!

You might need to do something about your brakes, since your going to be riding it in traffic. You should swap out the stock brake pads with after market ones, not sure which exact ones. Also change the brake fluid in both front and rear because the stock brake fluid is basically water.

do I need dual front or?
It depends, what your weight is and late braking? I working on getting some sintered brake pads, and some carbon ones for the stock calipers for the racers.thumbsup2

if your not racing or doin stoppies then no its not really needed but the one rotor and pads do get hot quick which cause brake fade
Racer15
06-23-2009, 01:19 PM
so its not needed but pretty much recommended?

To keep up with traffic. I think anything 125cc or up will be fine as long as you don't really ride on the super busy roads. Yea for street riding your going to need new tires, brakes, tachometer (Vapor works well), upgraded suspension, mirrors, motorcycle license etc.

I might get the x18 then, but ive also heard its narrow and uncomfortable to ride, and where can I buy one, pbu? or just go x15?

duals are definately better and if you got the money then definately do it. The front brakes are what stops you so you want all you can get. The rear only does about 25% or so of the braking.

if you like paying higher prices for no reason :dunno: They need to come down a $100... If i were you i would look on craigslist or craigshelper if you are willing to drive a few miles away from your house. You will end up saving enough to buy aftermarket parts thumbsup2

Good question. Some people like replacing everything and thats just how they roll but I myself are more the need for speed type of guy, so its up to you. Well you can get a D section exhaust off of ebay and make it fit your bike and for the mikuni its pretty self explanatory.

sweetness..... my bike has all stock parts except for the DB bars, CDI, and coil so im not the best person to ask what needs to go bcuz ill tell you just use the stock parts bluelaugh...i will say this though, the tires wear out fast and the front brakes get hot during hard and constant braking and the stock engines probably wont handle street riding everyday over 35 mph to good....

yes stock disc and caliper with aftermarket stainless steel lines.... the tires wear out fast and dont hook up as good as aftermarkets so i would change them for saftey and it'll save you money on tickets if an officer ever happens to check them....

well alot of pitbikes come with 125cc motors, and yeah $100 in tires and you can ride it on the road. (but then again, you would have to make all custom lights, signals, etc)
