I figure this would probably be considered a noob question but I can't find a good answer. I have a crf50 muffler that I want to put on my x19, but I need to know if it is necessary to weld it on or if clamps or something like quicksteel could be used instead. Thanks in advance

quicksteel??? sounds like you dont have a welder on hand right?....Im not gonna say you cant cut the stock one off and quicksteel the other one on there but it could last very long :dunno: i would make it slip on if it was me thumbsup2

QuickSteel will work for a very short time. Heat and vibration will crack and kill the joint. Blitz is right the easiest way to do this is hose clamping it. Cut two slits on the end of one pipe. That will allow one pipe to clamp over the other. You use a hose clamp to hold them together. A U-bolt works better but it sometimes harder to find the right size easily. I used both methods, meaning I welded most of the header then used a hose clamp on the last section to hold the exhaust can pipe onto the header pipe. But my can is also separate from that piece which is bolted on to last section.

if you have a "tractor supply" near by, the have ubolts in every size you could ever need.

A little advice either use high temp loctite or locking bolts on a U-clamp. Do you have to do it...no but it's better than have a bolt vibrate loose and crack a pipe.

i found an easy way to secure bolts
my clutch kept coming loose while i was riding
it would start off normal then get slacker and slacker
the nuts were walking down the adjustment rod, no matter how hard i locked the two together, it would just walk together
i tried a few things and ended up using duct tape, i just taped over the whole adjustment area
it cant possibly move now and i can take the tape off in seconds if i need too, and so far, its been heat resistant
id take a pic but its apart right now
