note: i know for me when i used the rustolium pro. plastic paint, if you spill gas on it it will eat up the paint, and the paint goo will stick to whatever it touches. just a heads up for that.

If the paints bubbling while still wet and going on, 3 reasons this would occur:
- Incompatiable or expired primer/paint
- Contaminated surface, something you cleaned the primer w/? dish soap & warm water is best to clean before paint.
-Sanding contamination might have occured? Is the sand paper new? did it sand something that wont take paint? oily engine part? plastic or silicon based material? this stuff transfers into the primer coat when you block sand it..
You didnt specify when it was bubbling so if it goes on smooth, and while it dries devlopes little tiny bubbles and fishers or "fish eyes", whats happening is the part of the paint OR primer that makes it liquid, evaporates out of the paint, and it dries into a solid finish. Well if theres too much solvent/thinner in the paint mix(assuming its mixed automotive paints or primers) it goes on, the top layer dries, but the layer underneath is still drying, and the solvents/thinners force there way through the dried upper paint coat to find there way out leaving fish eyes in the upper layer. Temp and TIMING both effect the outcome.
Correct this by:
-reducing thinner/solvent in the paint OR primer mix(if your mixing the product yourself)
-allow longer time between coats for the previous coat to dry. OR spray more but lighter coats to obtain the same coverage.
-change the temp. of the enviroment your spaying in. Pro paint rooms stay at specific temps while painting but outside of the room, spraying at night or on cold days in your garage could cause this effect.
And yea a professional water based or urethane based clear coat, not only can you used water based color, but its protected against gas and other acostic stuff. damn right, one off man! GL !
