Hey guys, for all who are not familiar with myself I'm a PB shop owner in the metro area of VA DC and MD. The guys here at XMR aka xtreme mini racers have been in the pursuit of organized racing for mid bikes for some time know. With the recent invitation to compete at VIR and the amount of attention received we've been approached with the opportunity to join in some upcoming events as exhibition races. With that in mind and the turn out that we expect for these events the question will arise what class(es) would we preffer to compete in. My thoughts as a shop owner would be that the most popular mid bikes being purchased are the ones that come with a 110cc motor. So my suggestion is we have a 110cc class with unlimited modifications as long as the displacement remains 110cc with the possibility of allowing 2-stroke motors up to 65cc. We can call it (Mid bike Spec class) For those guys who need more motor and have a bit more money to put into there bike we can have a class up to 150cc with unlimited modifications as long as the displacement is know larger than 150cc with the possibility of allowing 2-stroke motors up to 85cc we can call it (Mid bike Extreme class). This seems like a reasonable solution with what I believe to be to extremely competitive classes. Remeber guys this is where it all starts so any feedback is good feedback.

i agree with two classes to start
the 110 class is good although most of us that race have moved past the 110, so it would be great for the jr riders
id bring my 18 just to run in that too
the above class will be the most interesting/competitive
hey doug, i know you like to run without your fairing, prolly for ease of maintence, but it would look so much nicer with it on, more sport bikey Poke12

for pit bike sakes id go up to 114 cc (popular high comp kit for 110's and a BB kit for crf50's, id also have a 88cc class where 50cc 2 strokes can run, and the 150cc / 85cc2 stroke sounds about right.

X7 they've going places. But what we can't afford is for us to start in-fighting. He have to stick together because we're to small right now not too. Don't let what I just said ruffle feathers if it did you know why I said it. If not forget I even mentioned it cool_shades Doug I'm sending you a PM on what your idea. Not trying to be secret squirrel I just want to full you in on a few things. Cool? Yeah I put up the idea of a amatuer, expert, and pro-class and to hell with displacement for now. With quailifying we could class people at first then work from there. Sand bagging won't help because if you run certain times you can be bumped up to the next class in the next race without notice. Yes you would have prep time but that's it. cowboy

I have to agree with Doug seperating classes by CC's. From experience chassing bigger CC's bikes u will do ok but not come close to wining because ur under powered. just my twocents.

Hey Blitz normally I would run with my fairings but I have a tendancy to toss it (crash) ocassionally lol. Even while running a PB shop replacing fairings can get pricey. Next event I'll be seen in full dress for how long though is still in question lol?!?!

So where would someone with a stock 125cc run? In the up to 150cc class? They wouldnt even be competitive.

I think at this beginning stage the idea of keeping it to two classes is a good one. There aren't enough of us out there as yet to run a lot of classes.
Maybe up to 125cc 4T/65cc 2T and up to 150cc 4T/85cc 2T would be sufficient. No alcohol or NOS (safety) but unlimited mods otherwise. We could still run all bikes together if entry numbers are small, but the two classes would have their own results from each race.
Then as the numbers increase and we get a feel for what is needed we could have more classes.

I just want to go race with everyone and have fun! Then later on yall can throw me, or roll me, into any class ya want.

2 strokes shouldnt run with the 4 strokers...... all the stinky 2 strokers should suck up there own smoke.......there needs to be a stock 110 class with mild bolt ons.....for sure....i dont know how you would regulate the modified class as there is so many bikes with different CC modded motors

It's not a stock class if you allow any mods. How would you determine what is a "mild" bolt-on and what is a "wild" bolt-on? Keep in mind that in the beginning we are going to be bushranging a fair bit with class structures. They will evolve as time goes on. KISS at the start, then make changes as the sport grows. I think the main thing at the moment is to just get as many bikes out there racing as we can.
I have no problem running with 2T's provided they are of similar performance.

redryderaus is right first we need to get everyone or as many as possible to come out. We can't have 4 riders in 5 classes that ain't any fun.We need to keep this as simple as possible in the begining 2 classes?? You'd be supprised what u can do with a 110 but if you want to race a stock 110 be prepared to place accordingly. It allows the newbie to come out and join in the fun and get that racing bug without breakin the bank. 125 class can come later with growth unless you get an overwhelming showing of bikes at an event. As for allowing 2 strokes to join, it gives the gear heads a chance to show there skills with out blowing the wheels off the competition. You'd be supprised how many dirtbikes folks have sittin in garages collecting dust it's some work but it beats spending 7 or 800 on a motor build.
