so here is the story, i have an x17 (semi auto) that has been crashed but i might be able to do something with it. i wonder if i can fit that 184 motor that i was probably gonna put in a x18, does anyone know if it will fit. the things that i would need to do include: mount a brake by the right foot peg (the rear brake lever is located on the left handle bar), get a clutch cable and lever, and get new fairings which i dont think can be found. The good thing about this bike is that it has 12 inch rims. is it possible to change the position of the brake lever? do you guys think that this bike is worth building up or should i sell it and put that 184 motor in a x18?

Can you repost the photo's they don't come through? Opinion depends on the state of the bike as it sits. There's good point and bad. The biggest bad is the lack of replacement parts.

Yes it is. Not knowing what your frame looks like and the rearsets I can't tell you how hard it will be :dunno:

ya i would do the 17
just dont break any of the parts you cant get again
i bet a rearset from a x18 with the pedal/master/caliper can be fit on the bike somehow, or maybe one from a bigger bike
you can get fairings for a ysr that you would have to make mounts for but that is a body option
the 184 should go in with plenty of room to spare as its bigger than the other X bikes
plus
you already own it

speechless33 DUDE! I was expected a roached out bucket of rust! Hell yes use that bike! Like Blitz said I bet a complete rear brake system from a X18 should do ya good. You or someone else will probably have to make a bracket for the caliper to fit the rear disc or use the rear set and master cylinder from the X18 and the caliper and disc already on the X17. The second option will probably be the easiest. :dunno: And considering what you're looking at spending on a X18 build up I would put all that money or most of it in a maxed out 4 valve or V2 head motor. I know what they're saying about the 4 valve right now but I find it hard to believe they can't find more power in there. I know they can and probably have just no body's talkin yet!

the head is gonna be a ported & polished v2 head. The bike is ok but the fairings are messed up because I crashed & I can't find replacements. I will post a link to the motor soon.

here is a link the motor http://www.ahpminis.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26_62&products_id=671
why don't you try the new HO160 as your base engine.. It has the shorter stroke that will rev higher and faster..... I have one with the 64mm kit and V2 head and it absolutily rips azz.....

Unless the fairings are missing big hunks they can be fixed. And even if they are a person with the talent can get it done. I not saying he'll do it as a matter of fact I can tell you he'll say no but just as an example of what can be done check this out. And I don't think you can afford him hahaha

You can turn that X17 into whatever you want with a little imagination. Look into replacing the fairings with Phoenix fairings too thinking_smilie

the bottom fairing is cracked underneath the bike in half, the left side is stripped from the screws also. really, i think that the x18 is the better x bike to build because this bike seems like they tried to make it pretty and it doesnt function too well. i like they the x18 looks anyway and hate how my bike looks. hopefully i find out what im gonna do cause i get paid in 2 weeks and i already have 320 saved.

if i put that 184 engine in a x bike, would i still need to turn the key to kick start the bike on and would i need to turn the key back to cut the bike off?
The Nutty Professor

If that's how you set it up. Yes you can use the key as a kill switch. How close are you to Enterprise and if you want to sell the X17 how much?

im about 2-3 hours from enterprise. i"ll have to talk to my dad about selling it but i can guess around 300-350 or we could trade for a x18 or just a x18 rolling chasis with fairings :dunno: but anyway, do i need a fuel cutoff switch if i already have a kill switch?

DON'T TELL THEM IT'S A 2 SMOKE!!!!!speechless33 Don't tell them anything they don't need to know! Give them a VIN for the bike and let them figure out the rest. 2 stroke are legal in all states, unless Cali has gone back and outlawed bikes already registered and I don't think they have.

the Kawasaki tecate 250 had 55 hp. So I would not be surprised if the kx has at least that. I know the tecate has a counter balance in it so the vibs are'nt bad. I have one, and thought about putting it in my ysr. I just thought 55 hp in a ysr is a little nutsspeechless33
