Is this the right way to hook it up?? And how do you attach to the frame, i used pull ties...

dont it just hang up?

that is the correct way to connect it. and i just used zip ties to mount mine, use the metal zipties if u have them. if not the large plastic zipties will work.

I think the springs you're talking about are for hanging the cooler between to frame spars like my X22 has in the front. I see a major problem with were you hung the cooler. If you ride through neighborhoods and off curbs (Stunting) you're going to smash the hell out of it or stones kicked up from the front tire get flung right were your cooler is. It also looks like the cooler moves up and down on the ties. That means the cooler will smack the underside of the motor over a hard bump or the zipties will get cut by the piece of frame they're wrapped around. Sorry for all the negative comments but wouldn't you rather have the input thumbsup2 than not thumb_down I may be totally wrong twocents

i thought the lines went to the head instead of the motor case

so are the oli lines hooked up right?? Does it madder which pipe goes to which hole on the motor?? What did you guyes use to mount it???

lol no man..how is it going to get fresh air that way? hang it infront like this:

and if those don`t work go here:

you hang it with zip ties on the cross frame right under the front of the gas tankthumbsup2

wont a oil cooler make your bike slower?

wont a oil cooler make your bike slower?
no...I don`t see how it could.

someone told me it would cause it would make the oil cooler and harder to go through intern makeing it slower. so would it make it faster then?

an oil cooler surely wont make it slower. having cooler oil, and for that fact cooler air, circulating will make your bike more powerful. i couldnt mount my oil cooler like those in the pictures because i didnt have enough space. space was pretty limited in my X7 frame after i swapped out my 50cc 4 stroke single spd engine and put in a Lifan 140cc 4 spd all 4 up shift pattern w/ numerous mods so i chose to mount the oil cooler to the backside of the front forks right on top of the front fender. so it could get good airflow. mounted there it got a perfect airflow. but my oil cooler lines had to be able to move around some when i turned the handlebars or when the suspension moved which became a problem with the stock oil cooler lines. they really werent very flexible and after 11 days of riding one of them started to leak. so i bought new banjo ends that had long enough ends to put on 2 clamps each side. i orderd 5/16 inch ID steelbraided oil cooler lines off the internet. i bought 10 feet of it and it wasnt to expensive. and i have enough extra to make 2-3 more lines. i used the 4 new banjo ends and cut 2 new oil lines to the proper length and slipped the oil line right over the banjo end and used 2 clamps per end for a tight fit, but before i finally clamped everything down tight i positioned the lines so they would have the least amount of any stress placed on them like when i turned the handlebars right and left and the least amount of side to side or twist stress on them. i also took into account the angles at which the banjo ends would attach to the oil cooler input/output openings and the angles they could attach at on the lower engine case. then when everything had the least amount of any stress anywhere i finally clamped everything down very tight. i did have to remove some material from the right side front of my lower fairing right behind the front fender to accomodate the new oil lines, but i have been using them for over 7 months without any problems. and the engine runs an average temperature that is 8 degrees less than with the stock oil lines, but that could be something else. i also cut off the top oil cooler mount that has two mount holes so i had a little more clearance so the oil cooler itself wouldnt bottom out on the lower fork clamp or bolt. after all that time and work now i have the oil cooler mounted on the perfect position and have no more problems with the oil cooler lines leaking. plus the new lines are flexible, but i still angled EVERYTHING so it had the least amount of stress on the oil lines, ESPECIALLY where the lines had to flex at. this has worked excellent for me. i have run it stock and recently with an IRK and all of the new parts it came with. still no problems. took some patience, but it was worth it. oh yah, i used zipties to mount it the forks. numerous zipties and zipties to tighten the zipties and it works excellent for 7 months, so far.

ok...i had it mounted it on the wrong spot...now i put it under the gas tank, and it fits but there is wires on the front of the oil cooler, does that matter???

One correction XXL a cooler doesn't make it more powerful it allows the engine to keep the power it would lose when the engine oil gets to hot. There is a point were the engine is the most efficent (spelling getting god awful) it called something like The Point Of Thermal 'Something Or Other'. Hey you engineering students out there you know what I'm talking about pony up the tech-speak. I stuck to or tried with me points but I can see everyone else has the same opinion. Dude bad spot idea_smilie Anyone have a thought on side-mounting the cooler and ducting air to it? The duct could come from the front or one could be built into the bodywork on the side like the RC51?

No radiant heat will leach into the oil through the line raising the temp. Not good on input or output line.

no move it away from the header.
swanni06
11-18-2007, 04:14 PM
that or wrap the header with some heat wrap.

What he said. If you've got the time amd money have the header ceramc coated inside and out. That kills the heat big time.

were the hell do you get that done?? Also cant i just get that wrap stuff?? Is the header that black part of the pipe that hooks to the motor??thumbsup2

some autoparts stores carry it..might have to order it though.Yes you wrap it from where it bolts up to the head back.thumbsup2

Yeah just get the wrap it's a better value or bang for your buck. Most speed shops have it. I think I even saw it at AutoZone and PepBoys.
