As of right now there is a lot of confusision going on(atleast I'm confused lol but it's coming about as keep checking on new info....)
...I woke up to check my emails and I see the MASRC season cancellation(pull he chair out from me,the start of a very bad day..
Then I go searching on the net and facebook to see what happened.
Upon looking to see what happend I learn that the track has a new operator.
Sandy Hook Speedway is now being operated by Dennis & Janet Headley. They are continuing the traditions set by Dave & Sue Koehler and adding a few exciting changes. Stay tuned for updates!

From what I understand the above dates are to be followed..
But in the link below it's different..It notes to two Clubs being involved..and dates stil say 2 day
http://www.sandyhookspeedway.com/Documents/Bikes.htm
I'm still waiting to see if the two clubs are going to be Combined and the dates for 2 days still on.....As I read the clubs will be ran AS ONE..
I will know more after Saturday..and will update..

Well thats the problem. The track has booked separate clubs on the same dates and that is not going to work for us this year with our sponsors and vendors for our race series. Sandy hook did not tell us till yesterday that we were sharing t...he track with another club. That would not work with our series this year. All riders could have entered our series but now other dates have been picked out to run other bikes and this will pose a problem with amount of people will show and points thru the year.We have other local tracks that we can pull the series this year with more organization than Sandyhook. We do not want another year like the last two with everything just running on the track. at once. We also have sponsors that are working with MASRC and we have to do what they ask for also. Two clubs won't swing with them. this year was going to very huge with some weekend events but now all has had to change and I am sorry we can not be there.

Tommy ThunderYeah i could see how this could affect a points race for MASRC org. Dam it seems that they people running the track wanted to push Tommy right on out and pretty much DID!
I looked on the sandyhook race schedule and it says oval and road divisional. So i'm wondering if this means the karts and bikes share the track on those days.:dunno: Either way the people running the show is saying either my way or the highway!
Well definitely looks like i be staying close to home for some race or track action this year. Anything on dirt not an option, drag racing i can do at my local track which is only 30mins away.Plus i don't care for the straight line racing on a mini at all. Oval racing not on anyones life or minds for that matter.bluelaugh Heck i got a track that's 2hrs30mins away. It only has a total of 6 turns and i only like to test there.(sometimes) I can't see how racing an oval could be any kind of fun.
Well i wish Tommy luck....... I guess which ever Organization will put on a full weekend event. I'll hussle on up to do some laps.rock2
Either way i hope it doesn't leave you without a track to race on Daryll. That would really suck, very few people i know are as passionate as you about racing on the tracks.thumbsup2

I wish the two clubs and track could come to an agreement though..
They will be Missed..
But keep the Lower Fees..bows_smilie
The track doesn't lose with adding more people they gain so there is no need to up the fees or keep them high..
(The more we brought to Raceway park when we raced there the cheaper our fees got..
:bananar:
...........................................
I've been doing this for a long time, been to Sandy Hook so many times for so many years .. and, well ..I've seen so much ..
..............
lower fees is a big must for me especially now..Business is slow, very slow....3-4 hour trip each way in a mini van=more gas then our toyota corrolla,..food etc.....Stupid toll after toll coming from NJ..
Parts hard to get and expensive for my bikes..
The van just EATS gas...man,I love it but it just Eats gas like nothing..
With just those costs I considered throwing in the towel this year...This track is not close for me..So many factors come in..Work,wifes hours, her other workers not showing up,us leaving at 5am,packing van with bikes etc from second floor apt, going to get fuel fotr the bikes, traffic.kids maybe sick, exhaustion, weather, maybe raining up here but not in MD vice versa..
It's expensive Saturdays for me.and a lot of work so when I get to the track I try to have as much fun as possible...
This Saturday will be lots of adjusting though, new parts on bikes, clutches to be set etc, hoping tubes in tires hold up...I can't do DIDLY here..

This year I had the thought to add a new type bike to my stable to have more options..
Not that I have the money to do so but I like to have something to set a drive for..
The van brings more options now on what I can ride..No matter what it is I still need to be able to carry it up into my second floor apt .banghead
I just can't leave anything good in my basement, tennants kids suck...
Figured small mini motard...Some lil 4 stroker dirtbike that can be made into a mini motard..
I love my pocket bikes and would never sell them but having ONE bike(other type) would be much easier on my life right now ..I ike to be on the track as much as I can..
Still no matter what there has to be a race series or track that I can ride whatever I have.
Then when the the series was cut that dream all went out the window..fast.
If things go well this year then I'll get my thoughts back on that dream...
Right now I just want to get on the track ..and hope everything works out..

lock on the basement twocents
It's shared so I can only lock up and chain my own stuff up,..Everything like bikes is chained up to pipes:)
I had the two stroke mid bike on the ground chained up and the kid downstairs was trying to drag it off the pole..
He needs his hands cut off the lil bastard.
I have it now chained up on top of a big table and I surrounded it with stuff so his butt can not touch it..

I have the two stoke mid chained up in the basement...I wish it was a 4 stroke...I was planning to bring it to the track this season,I just need to clean the carb out as I can't get the bike to stay running without the choke on.
.I actually can carry that sucker upstairs by myself ..I'd not be able to carry a 4 stroker though..:)
I measured for an NSR 50 and I'd have a real trip trying to get it down the rear basement stairs, steel doorway..
I've never had to live anywhere that I had to chain or lock shit up in my own apt basement..
These tenants below me may be moving(new news to me yesterday)..If so I hope to do some different things..Switch my stuff to the other side of the basement and if I can close off a corner to store a bike in it.
It's all work,time and money..
It's their kids they have no regard or nor respect for other people property..Less the parents argument after argument they don't care, they don't respect other peoples property either..

TS this may sound stupid but they use to do this when I lived in Germany and we all shared a huge basement under the military housing apartments. They put up chain link fence with a locking gate. It was floor to ceiling and each post had a movable concrete foot to hold it in place. The space was maybe 10x10 and you could fit a lot in there. I was a kid so it looked huge. Dad stored all his tools in there and his work bench. He was into woodworking and set up a shop in there. Chain link may not be right for you but that might give you and idea. I know there are a lot of quick set ideas now like kennels for dogs and things like that? Just thought.

As of right now we are not sure about a full weekend, but we will talk about it this Saturday at the track. Just for the record, we had nothing to do the the other club canceling at Sandyhook, it was they choice, we had just picked up open dates the track had left open.
I will let you know after this weekend if we pick up more dates at Sandyhook.
hope to see at the track.

I will be fully involved in this series..just I may have to do Bi Monthly Racing due to funds I put aside just for racing itself...
So if you don't see me I'll be coming,I'm not getting out of racing anytime soon.
Right now I need Three rear tires for the bikes that going to cost me/money that I don't have....yet..
I have always used PMT T41 or R tires..but not easy to get or cheap..
Sucks when you get a slice on two rear bikes tires left sidewall within two races..I'm hitting something on the track that's slicing ripping the tires sidewalls. It's like I'm hitting a nail sticking out of the track it's poking them in making a hole that then rips alrazor line in the tire...
I have two rear Vee Rubber that I have ner tried and need to figure out the SHA ratio.
I can't run anything harder then PMT T41 as then I'm on my back at the track..
I aslo am looking into SAVA tires.

This is what I bought..having the mini van has changed my options..
Though the NSR 50 is in my second floor apt..
Until these people below me move..or my next race..
I've started over and basically spent everything I had to get this bike.
I really need to get used to it and learn it..I have no clue to as what oil goes in the motor..(engine or is it trans)=2 stroke bike but not liker pocketbikes
It's like when I first got my first pocketbike,$125.00 Chinese bike.got me hooked going to a TSMMR race.
My next "Good' Pocketbike was a $3600.00 bike picked up at $2500.00(my blue bike)
That put me in the hole and I'm right back there now..
Just fully starting over..
So now I have to make money back to actually get to races.

Thanks Doug...The day was great...
I started to get better runs in the afternoon,Took a few corners so nice I was feeling it..rock2..It's so much fun..
My entire problem is the leather pants I wear..I had bought them for racing the pocketbikes for any track that required them but tracks we were racing on many just used jeans, knee sliders..
With Jeans and knee sliders I can slide -move all over the pocketbikes yet the first time I used the leather pants racing a pocketbike in MD I got stuck to one side of the seat, flew into the inside of the track and flipped, the worst crash I ever had...I stopped using the leather pants and no more crashes -atleast me crashing myself.bluelaugh
NJMP requires them so I threw them back on....I need to atleast use them constantly if I race both tracks..(NJ MD)
I am so uncomfortable in the leather pants,I can't get my knees out..I could ride the bike much better with jeans though.
I need to find pants in the middle of leather and jeans

i miss racing, its nice to watch but more fun doing
I think I was ready for more power once I turned the throttle..I can say I missed the pure pull power of the pocketbikes right away..
I am just cazy about this NSR 50,I keep moving it to my living room so that I can stare at it and look it over more and more...Riding it is a Blast but I wish I had not got off a Fast pocketbike before it as I miss the power of them..
The power of the NSR 50 is similar to my 6.2 GRC GP(7.5hp)(the slowest pocketbike I bring to MD) I ride that 6.2 pocketbike open throttle and full out because it has no power so I have to keep the bike moving at a constant pace...
Getting on my Faster pocketbikes are like Rockets compaired to the NSR 50
..As people pass me up at MD I'm yelling in my helmet that I wish I was on my fast pocketbike to go after them,,
..."and" I plan to ride both...I brought a pocketbike with me to the last MD race but I never rode it because I'm still trying to learn the NSR 50..plus I was running all over the place, helping keeping busy..
I got some new lighter racing pants yesterday that should help me with movement on the bike..I will get faster on the NSR ..
I am really happy with the NSR 50 ...As I look at bikes for sale online that have been upgraded-and or faster NSR 50-63-70cc bikes for sale I think about having a second bike just for power..But I can only get so much in the van...If I actually could sell my pocketbikes I'd buy another one..
I planned to bring two pocketbikes to ride with the NSR to tomorrows race but it looks like.......... Rain..Rain....so instead of driving 3 hours for rain I'm staying home.
I think i was ready for more power once I turned the throttle

Wow that an ZPF EFCO ..."mini"...It's an older original ZPF mini motogp pocketbike...Several of the guys had them..
Be careful on it as parts are virtually impossible to get(unless you found a source)
Go over the bolts with locktight as the rigidness likes to loosen important bolts..
When you start it,grab the puller and pull it slightly a few times making sure the teeth on the pawls have a good bite..If you yank the puller too quick or hard off the bat it'll rip-tear up the plastic rope wheel and it'll feel like there is nothing to pull...if you pull it out to far it may snap the spring..(I've done both and watched people do this)
Not sure on the tires if they are R or B..
..PMTs are the Best......If they are Rs then they are Soft and what I used when I could get them...if they are PMT "B" be careull as they are Hard surface Rental Tires for use on Parking Lots and just feel like oils been thrown under them if on a paved track..
I use PMT T 41...
With the Clip Ons we all keep them almost straight out as once your riding and lean you don't do much turning and I've watched kids get caught up with their legs between them and the tank faring when the clip ons were too far in near the tank..
44:1 mix..
anything higher your just pushing to blow these motors.

awesome info! ive been wondering about alot of those same things, thanks alot mein
they are the B tires, so what should i get for the track? on the mids i like the soft slicks, im more concerned about traction than wear
do you know the motor specs cause i thought it was a china cag for the price i paid (under 400) and then i see alot of 'made in italy' so im like hmmmmm, i seen a web page that said 40cc 4.5 hp, and somebody on pbp said it might be a 6.2?
somebody said i had polini race cases version 2 i think, the carb is a sha1414L
i rode it and its brutal with no suspension on bumpy road, ive been breaking it in with 1/32 93 octane or whatever 2ounces in a half gallon makes
so do the 44/1 now? sorry im a total noob in the 2T
my G kids were very happy when they saw it, now im getting gear for them so they can come with me to a race
any other info on my bike id love to hear, thanks

Quick Post,I am still doing some searching for info on the bike..
......
It should be a Series 1.... 4.2 motor if polini...If you got a series 2 Polini motor in a bike for $400.00 that's better as it's faster..There would be a square lifted reed valve if 6.2
Right now Pocketbikes are at an all time low ..I know a guy in Ohio who is/was selling a bigger ZPF for $350.00
http://www.cycleforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1361082903
The bikes are still for sale via another GA guy..
The carb should be a delorto 14/14
You see from what I know the bike came with a ZPF EFCO motor that was specific to it...Wheras guys bought it and could not do much to it in regards to updrading the motor as there was nothing for the ZPF EFCO motor made to do so.
but I hear that some came with a Polini Motor(lucky) and they are upgradeable..Four of my bikes have Polini motors in them..(3 are series ( 1 is series 1
Anything Italian in Pocketbikes is Great..They just can't be matched..

I used PMT R the softest at the time PMT...and they stick like glue,I had the rear on the bike for 3-4 years..the fronts still on the bike...I use PMT T-41 as they are great with sticking and wear..one of my bikes came with them on it,still on t and all the guys were using them so..
I still use them today but they are expensive and hard to get..

If ordering anything from them ask if they have it first.
Tire changing on these wheels is rough..get a small tire changer..and use a lot of soap and water..If you need help LMK....

There used to be a Ton of info online but I'm coming up with nothing..
There are Minis and Midis..This is a mini..
One of the last guys that rode with me at Etown was on a ZPF Efco .He bought it from a guy named Tien who used to race it at Sandy Hook Speedway..The problem They both had racing this."Mini" ..was the pegs were too low to the ground upon leaning into a turn and they hit..So they both would have to take a wider apex into turns of(if your peg hits he ground your rear wheel is going to wash out)..People would either buy other brakets or make them to raise the foot peg height to get more lean in turns..
I can still view in my head riding with the guy at Etown....I kept coming around him to pass and ride with him side by side....
When we raced at Sandy hook,60 + Pocketbikes we had a Rider Named Marco..who was very into MotoGP,went to the big races as a spectator and knew first hand the professional riders...
He was a direct source in the for ZPF parts so him being a racer with us lots of people bought ZPF bikes..He held special event races in Delaware but a few years ago he left the sport opening a new restaurant..
The problem with Italian Minimoto/MinimotoGP bike/Pocketbikes is getting the parts....especially now......
I'd say if you want a secondary bike to Mod,for the little one to learn on and be able to get parts Easy..Get a Chinese Pocketbike..
Whew the lightning strike might come down on me for saying that from Strict Euro Pocketbike Racers..
I started on a Chinese Pocketbike..Then I bought three more ..I modded all of them to mainly stay together by lock tighting every bolt and changing the bolts to hardened bolts..
These bikes could not match up to European/Italian bikes Quality,Speed and Power when I raced them at Etown(we had a CAG class for them,then)...One Chinese Pocketbike I had was faster then the others as it came with a big bore kit and I got away from a Italian pocketbike on it as I was riding at my best that day..
If you put a $200.00 Chinese Pocketbike next to a European/Italian pocketbike you will instantly notice the difference in Quality..
But for $179.99 you can get a Chinese Pocketbike that you can get a TON of parts for easy online and on ebay...You can mod it,break it,smash the faring up and have it going again for not a lot of money..It's a great starting bike....Smash up European/Italian pocketbike farings and you can't get them..
They have 500-1000= Chinese Pocketbikes too ..

WHAT ARE MINIMOTOS? Minimotos are a small-scale version of racing motorcycles.
... Pasini, Stamas, Polini, GRC, Blata, GEM, DM, ZPF, Vittorazi & ATM. ... I've
taught a four-year-old to ride and know of at least one Granddad that rides. ...
TSMMR 47

If that motor is Fresh top build or new I'd keep breaking it in on 32:1...for two practice days(as racers would tell me) ...You may get a lot of smoke or oil spitting out the pipe..
I'd then go 40:1 ..
Then after a few good ride times go 44:1//That's the mix I use/used for years...I have never rebuilt a motor or had an issue using that ratio(Ratio Rite)
It's what I'm using in the NSR now..
The fast guys who have sponsors,mechanics..lots of money will use 50:1 for max hp...But they blow motors and are rebuilding all the time..I can't afford that so I use a 44:1(yahmalube) a more oil lube mix...
If you have a Polini Motor then you will have a Adjustable clutch...Probably a two shoe polini clutch...The prime adjustment using a GPT tach is set to engage at 8500 rpm...but with a child leaning your better off at 7000-7500..if the clutch is set to engage to low then the bike will bog and have no power until the motor builds up at the pipe..if to high then the clitch will burn up and getting the Polini two shoe clutch shoes is hard..
Clutch adjustment is a big thing..
There are several types of clutches for these bikes ..but they don't all fit every bike..

Yea I think Snap On was given these bikes once as gifts..It was either these or Blata 2.5s..
that motor, wow,it looks different from a Polini series one or II..it looks similar but the part where the pipe goes into the head is different..Polini motors are flat on the bottom case..
the carb area looks different too..
Take a look around the head cases and see if anything says ZPF or polini..
..the pull start says Polini but it's just a bolt on part that fits..
Nonetheless..It just means the motor is the ZPF motor specific to this bike.. it's was 4.5 hp..or less.
A kid on these bikes fly..

For some reason the X1 isn't showing up in the pics and two other electrics that I took pictures of..
I'm still working on the Mid X1.I need a carb gasket kit.
Prob with my pocketbikes is..I can ride them at Sandy Hook but there is no one else to ride with on a small bike this size ..If you ever come to SH I will bring a bunch to go at it with you on..

Oh yea the bikes are quick...
Wait until you get on something with 13-15hp+..They are mind blowing..
Yea the peg plates should bent back in a vice..Shoot,if the pegs are bent up a little that's actually better for leaning.

i should be able to make pegs fit if i need to, but this time they bent back
hopefully i make it to the hook this year with a few kids in tow
ill race the pbs but the good race is my mid vs your fastest bike
your right these tires are hard, sometimes i felt good on the edge but it would start to drift under power, so i wasnt liking that
i need to affix my gas tank to something other than just the plastic cover, that was stupid, make a small chain guard
where does the hose i always see sticking out of the gascap go?, mine sprays gas like a fountain
man sorry i jacked this, didnt mean to
TSMMR 47
05-18-2011, 02:32 PM
Oh yea, that would be a great race..Just let me know before you come up so that I can actually ride the PBs again once as I've just been focusing on the NSR..The difference in feel getting off one to the other is ridiculous..
I'd ride my 50cc GRC GP since it has a brand new PMT T 41 on the rear...My fast Yellow 40cc GRC GP has a new MRB Sava on the rear that I've never rode on ..it's a semi hard more flat surfaced tire(could not get MRA) so I might be on my back a lot..My GRC RR I don't use much,it's a $3500.00 bike that I hate taking a chance on racing hard because I can't get Chit for it..'and' the old club of PB guys to race it against isn't around so it's become a display..
I just put a new rad on it that cost $189.99 plus import fees but I got one new for $100.00 lucky..Still so much cost to these bikes..I just hated that this bike wasn't ridable with a hole in the rad..
Then I buy the NSR and I'm nuts about it..
One thing I hate about the pocketbikes is the gas tank is stuck to the tank, seat faring where you have to pry it off...on my RR it was teflon sealed-glued to the faring ..I had to get that apart as I take the gas out of the bikes at the track before coming home..
One Cag,a half faring cag I took the tank and tie wired it to the frame, making sure not to hit the Pipes top..Then I cut the cap hole in the faring to a rounded(door hole bit) bigger hole so that the cap would not be holding onto the faring..I could slip the faring over it..
On all my bikes I made the faring gas cap hole a tad bigger to get the tank to not be so held onto the faring..You can make a bracket or long hose clamps under the tank to hold it up and tie it to. You just have to watch that the tank and fuel line does not lay or hit the pipe..
On one Chinese pocketbike(cag) I bought a fuel line quick release so that I could get the whole faring and tank off with ease at the track..With my GRCs I use these petcocks
http://www.midsouthminimoto.com/112111350.aspx
So that I can just pull off the fuel line end from it going to the carb to get the tank off..
I've seen guys take a fuel line out of the cap and run it up over to the front of the bike,,,I am not a fan of doing that as if the gas somehow sprays onto the motor like that, you may get a fire..
If you can run the line up and under maybe..
The cap has to breath but not a whole lot...I take a needle and make the whole bigger on my caps but that's it.
I'd replace the cap..
But it may be easier and cheaper to but a whole other gas tank and cap...a chinese type..
I had this on a cag as you can tie it down at the ends.,,but the seller is NUTS on price..I had to ask..,Is the price right..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250812941556
the Whole darn bike is only $169.99
Same thing but the right price.

There are several kinds listed on ebay..
You just have to make the cap fit into the faring..The Cag faring has a gully for the cap..
My GRC have this cap

but it does not fit everything..

TSMMR 47

You might be able to use, adapt a Chinese Pocketbike Faring set to fit the bike for practice use(as some guys do with the GRCs etc....
Because the original farings are impossible to get..and the chinese farings are cheap easy to get..
When I bought my Yellow GRC GP,it was advertised as a parts bike and had Chinese pocketbike faring on it..the faring was mismatched in color and looked horrible..
I found out the guy had the original yellow set so I bought it instead...
but the guy racing the bike with Chinese pocketbike faring..
I wanted a spare faring for my red and white pocketbike and kept looking on the net..Nothing,never...a whole bike popped up with the same faring HAGA paint sceme..I wound up buying the whole bike,
That's how I have two bikes that look the same...=looking for spare faring..
I finally put the X1 in my bike closet..I ordered the gasket set today too...

I took out the 50cc pocketbike first and it rode well..better after I got the tire pressure up..
Then I heard a funny noise in the pits=The water pumps impeller was hard to turn so I need to take it apart and (figure out if I can use some type of lube)..My dad says it's prb water lubed but it's binding when the water gets hot...
Not wanting to fry that motor and ot wabnting to gas the blue pocketbike up, got on the NSR and rode it like I have been riding it forever..
I'd say my improvement was 100% and I see that I can get faster and faster on it..I chased the tards making safe passes when I could but it's rough when there is not a safe spot to pass but yesterday I rode the bike like I ride pocketbikes and that was a big plus for me..Fast People that I look to pass=knowing i'm doing better I was able to pass so I kbnow I got a lot better..
I like to grid in the rear though even if I'm to be in the front.I love to chase..Plus I hold back at the starts not to get tangled in the first turn as it seems to be the place to go down..I learned to stop being so aggressive there after the bad crash-Tommy going down in front of me on the scooter.
I don't want to wreck the new bike..
