I thought this would be a good place to be able to list areas where midbike owners ride or practice without any hassels.

OK I found this place. I started a web search...again I started a thread like this on another forum and I still have the info and I'll put it here. The first photo is an abandoned kart track in Hinesville Georgia. The second photo is a tech school that has a lot of area I can use on Sunday's and it has a scenic view to boot (Ponds with fountainsbanana). The last place is a photo for Mid Bike Racer. Dude give them a call and set up some east coast races. The facility is great. There's activies for the families (Large arcade building with bathrooms, concessions, and A/C if it comes to that) while we race and there are three tracks to choose from. The place is called FiveStar Family Fun in Pooler Georgia (912)330-9814 address is 1040 highway 80 Pooler Georgia. It's right next to I-95. When I say right next to it I mean it. If the road was straight and there were no trees you could see it from the highway. If someone wants to find a place near them PM me with your state and city and a general area where you want to ride and I'll see what I can find for you. If I get tired of doing it I'll let everyone know but for now I'm gamehunter1.

Anybody know where you can buy the orange flat cones? I've seen them used to layout road courses for Karts and Mini-Tard's. I saw them somewhere now I can't find the site. Anybody?dunno

I have a bunch from races I have put on and they are just sitting in the garage.
How many you need?
I searched online for where I bought them from and I can't find the site.
I will take a pic and post to see if they are what you are talking about.

My apologies to everyone in advance for what I'm about to post.

So I keep it on the streets were we belong

This is one of those incredibly stupid statements that will fire me up every time. banghead

Midbikes belong on public roads, huh? Think about this (preferably while you look at those pics Nutty posted above). I ride 1:1 bikes on the road and have done so for 20 years. My Honda VTR1000 sportbike is bright red and is roughly twice the size of a midbike and car drivers don't see it. It has a very bright headlight that is on all the time and car drivers don't see it. I'm a pretty big bloke wearing a bright red jacket with a colourful helmet and car drivers don't see me. I can't go out for a ride on my bike without having to take drastic action to avoid some idiot in a car who didn't see me. banghead

Need more? What happens when a little kid doesn't see you and runs out on the road and you hit him. Unless you are insured and registered (very rare with midbikes) then you are liable for his medical costs plus his parents can sue the ass off you and you haven't got a leg to stand on. Even worse, what happens if he dies?? How would you feel?? Again his parents can the sue ass off you and you haven't got a leg to stand on. This on top of the fact that you have to live with the fact that you maimed/killed a little kid. You are doing something that is illegal so you can also be charged negligent manslaughter (or whatever the equivalent charge is over there) and you could easily end up in jail. banghead

If this doesn't convince you to find somewhere safe to ride your midbike and stay off public roads then you are beyond help or reason. banghead

Sorry MbR. Delete this (and my account if need be) if this is over the top.

As long as your bike has all the equipment need and is EPA certified and has the badge that has this"This vehicle conforms to all applicable U.S. Federal Motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS)" there is no reason why you shouldn't
be able to tag it. Most states don't have height requirements on motorcycles themselves but a height requirement on the head light or taillight.

There must be some crazy drivers where you live. Well there are plenty of DEE DEE DEE!! drivers no matter where you live, Even if you are riding a midbike or a motorcycle you still have to drive defensivly. "Regardless You Have To Ride Defensive" I had my bike looked over by the state police here where I live, they know what I registered. What is the difference between a Honda Monkey and a Midbike.(Nothing and the Honda monkey is street legal why not the Midbike) I hate to say it but that kid that was riding that bike probably "Wasn't Riding Defensively" and its the parents fault cause "Pocketbikes and Midbikes are not toys"

These bike are road worthy but not "HIGHWAY"

x18runer
09-18-2007, 10:35 PM
exactly what is the difrence between a honda monkey and a midbike I'm 15 so I'm almost old enough to ride on the street legaly. But here in california x18's, and all other midbikes are not street legal, because of emissions but that doesent keep anyone from riding them here. The x18, and the x19 is made for the street, so is the pheniox it just cant pass smog here. O WELL

And there vehicle death rates are off the charts. Standing ovation to Red I saybanana. Red I can see that you have dodged more than one crash cage...me too. I also see I am more than twice X18's age and have been riding longer than he's been alive. In my job I've seen more DRT's than any person should ever have to see and 8 times out of 10 "Stupid" caught up with them. I just hope he's learning curve is a soft one.

For a start I called your statement stupid, not you personally. Exactly where in my post did I attack you personally as you have attacked me?

You are breaking the law if your midbike is not registered and insured. Also if your area requires you to be licensed to ride/drive a vehicle on public roads and you are underage (which it certainly seems you are) then you are breaking the law. So how can you claim to be obeying all traffic laws?

Your "it'll never happen to me, I'm too good" attitude is typical of a young teenager. Tell you what, mate. Go visit a road trauma & rehabilitation centre and talk to some of the severely injured motorcyclists there. They probably thought they were too good to ever have a serious accident. Ask them how they feel now. Ask them if they were good enough to avoid it?

I'm done. You obviously know more than people who have been riding for longer than you have been alive.

I know I'm not all that good. x18's are made for the street come on now turn singnals, head light, tail light, and a horn the only thing it needs is a mirroir and a license plate. I'm good enough to ride on the street because if I wasent I would be dead by now. I dont care about that law that says you cant ride it because of smog, age, and regestration. Dude if you look at my bike closely you will notice some safety features that I added for "MY SAFETY" like extra L.E.D brake light on my license frame, mini stalk turn indicators for the rear, turn signal mirrors and side marker turn indicators. I sacrificed a little weight for safety, so DEE DEE DEE on their cell phone or putting on makeup can see me. But nothing beats riding defensivly.

Another thing you forgot on the equipment is a lighted license plate frame, Highbeams

Don't flame me. But i plan on riding my midbike on backroads where i live. Of course i will be wearing a helmet and plan on putting a flag on the bike so others can see it easier. And a different rear fairing and tail lights and turn signals is needed too..

The Nutty Professor

Rene, Ranger, King no flaming. We just want guys to realize you're not much higher than a speed bump on these things. I wish I could ride safely on the streetn on one of these, but it ain't gonna happen that's why this thread was put up.

I wish I could ride here it's a BestBuy parking lot, but the only safe time would be after midnight. There's still lights out there and the elevation changes are neat. Maybe one day.

People riding on the streets and getting hit by cars is what caused the government here to change the laws. A bloke was hit and killed less than 4km's from where I'm sitting typing this.

Those laws pretty much killed the PB and Midbike markets. Now I can't buy a decent Midbike here even though I want it for track use only.

midbikes arent as small as racing pocket bikes they are much bigger. But I take the x18 in parking lots in the industrail park, they have lots of empty lots. Ive ridden my friends x18 in lake tohoe on those windy rodes it's much funer than the street, even know the bike feels slower because of alltude I know I spelled that wrong. We take the bikes up they on trucks of course.

sorry to drudge up a thread like this, but i would like to put my twocents in.

First, I am 32 years oldand have been riding some sorta 2 wheeled vehicle for 17 years now (Texas legal riding age was 15). So I'm not in any way a newbie rider. I think, as I have always thought, that you can get killed, mamed, or hurt somehow by riding a bike, driving a car, walking across the street or even getting out of bed. So if your going to live your life by worring about how you could get hurt, then life isnt worth living at all.

I think that riders should just be more aware of their surroundings. I also think that (young) people should understand their limits as well as their bikes limits. NEW riders should NOT be allowed to have their parents buy them these super fast crotch rockets. i think they should come from the bottom up just like we (the more expierenced riders did). hell my first bike was a honda CB400A. yes, automatic. the only way the front end came up on that bike was to get off the bike and pick it up.

Sorry about my soap_box, but if people in general would respect what they are riding/driving, then we wouldnt be having this discussion in the first place. Yes midbikes CAN BE more dangerous, but that just means they have to be ridden more defensively on the road. Also if they cannot be registered FOR ANY REASON (ie. AGE, smog, location), then they should NOT touch the road. If they are cought then should be confinscated.

Once again Sorry about the soap_box.
