FMF pipe?

Just ordered a FMF can for my x18..
it was cheap so i just want to see if i can mod it to make it fit.
Ill have more info once i get the can but this it the only picture i have right now..

I'm sitting here now looking at the factory catalogs for the last 3 years in my buddies shop and it not in there. with a nice end cap tucked under the tail it should look good and perform better
you can prolly mod it to be a slip on

I might be mistaken but thats a copy of a similar fmf pipe, but a 2-stroke pipe? I'm pretty sure that the pipe is gonna be alot smaller than you expectangry_red

ok.. this is weird, i just talked to a couple of guys and they said that its a real fmf pipe and that there are tons of FMF cans made like that. All of the original Turbine Core silencers looked like that. so maybe theres a chance that this is a real one?

If it is a true FMF it's a 4-5 year old design. That doesn't mean it not a good one though. Here are a few designs from the past. They're close.

You know what,,, buying anything anywhere is questionable:confused:. As to where or how it was made if your happy with it and you got a great deal who in the hell cares.thumbsup2 As for the size of the pipe I wasn't referring to the cannister but rather the inlet size. This pipe (inlet size) can't be any larger than an inch which is gonna be small compared to a typical pit bike pipe.thinking_smilie Actually this cannister is very similar to what we used on the zx80 bike on our site but remember it's a 2 smoke and a big part of 2 stroke power is built off of back pressuer ie.. small pipetwocents

hey well i got my pipe today, and its a real fmf pipe, on the other side of the pipe it is imprinted FMF isde U.S.f.S approved

ill get some pictures of the pipe tomorrow and maybe some of it mounted if i can.

You're going to have to open it up to find out where the restriction is.

That pipe is just a standard FMF turbine core and is for certain a 2 stroke pipe. It is a genuine FMF, although the turn down tip may be a older style, FMF still makes them. In fact, I just got a Power Core in yesterday strait from FMF with a turn down tip for my 88 Kawasaki Tecate 250.

Its a decent pipe for a 2 stroke applicationthumbsup2

basically i need a 1/4 sheet metal, and need to cut it out into a peace that looks like the back of the x18 stock pipe.. the triangle. then weld it onto my new pipe and bolt it up. its really simple, but i probably wont get it done till Monday. and make a couple of holes to bolt it up ...

well i was working on my bike right now and looky what i did..

i kinda like this look better than the fmf pipe..
so i think im going to just mod the stock pipe and use this fmf pipe for
another project i have..i still have to weld one more bracket for support even tho it holds on pretty strong..

what do you think?

Perhaps my lack of creativity is talking here but whats wrong with a centered muffler?

Also, if your going to keep it like that make sure you heat tile the shit out of your fairings or they will be burning up and so will your leg.

the heat wrap is for the fairings and the clamp is for the pipe.
ill also be making a heat shield which ill post later when im done.

I like the pipe coming of from the sides also.Just not the header.

the header is right under the frame.
and most of the pipe will be covered my the fairings
so you wont see much..
and this is the best i could do for now.
once i learn to weld better, i might make a better exhaust.
